Walk and Talk

Let's Go Outside

The Comox Valley has so many beautiful spaces to be outside in nature.
If you enjoy wandering trails through the forest or sitting on a log on the beach, talking outside is a wonderful option for allowing conversation to flow while moving and breathing the fresh air.

Sharing time outside in a natural environment can feel more relaxed and make vulnerability more comfortable.
Walking can support individuals shift to more flexible and open mindsets, which works well with the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) model of cognitive restructuring.

Research by the APA explains the physical act of walking helps regulate the nervous system, offering a somatic pathway to process and release emotional energy. Walking outdoors has been shown to yield greater or equal improvements in stress, anxiety, and overall psychological distress (NIH).

Considerations around consent and confidentiality are a little different when planning to walk and talk, so the first session is always booked in person or online to discuss.
